KING OF BURGERS

Burgers, I've been seeing them everywhere lately. You can get them in different varieties such as the real American burgers, fit and healthy burgers, burgers with different kinds of meat and even vegan burgers. Because I usually have my cheat days on Saturdays or Sundays, I make my burgers at home - and not only for me of course, everybody is standing in line when they hear what I am making for lunch. So, what will you need?

- some kind of burger bread
- mixed minced meat (you can also use whole chicken breasts or chicken or turkey minced meat)
- cheese (cheddar, brie and mozzarella)
- white onion
- red onion
- minced garlic
- salt
- black pepper
- flour
- eggs
- fresh veggies of choice (lettuce, tomatoes, rocket, carrots, cabbage...)
- for the sauce (mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, minced onion, white vinegar, hot sauce)
- olive oil

First, I make the patties. Add in a bowl - mixed minced meat, chopped white onion, minced garlic, salt and one egg. Cover your hands in flour, and make your patties. They should be quite thick, so you can put a cube of cheddar cheese in the middle of each patty and cover it with meat. While grilling the patties, the cheese will melt and add even more flavour to the meat. Cut the veggies - tomatoes in thin slices and grind the carrots and cabbage. In a smaller bowl mix together -  1 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup of ketchup, 1/4 cup of yellow mustard, minced onion, minced garlic, 1/4 cup of white vinegar, salt, pepper and hot sauce. Put the sauce in the fridge. Put your patties in a half of a large pan to grill, and in the other half grill your red onions. That way the meat soaks up even more flavour. If you want the onion to be even more sweet, add a little bit of honey. Set the grilled onion to the side and put in the bread which you cut in half. Turn your patties around and add a slice of mozzarella cheese on top. Cover the pan so the cheese can melt. And now for the assembly. Take the bottom part of the bread and spread on the sauce. Put your patty on top and cover it with caramelised red onion. Add fresh veggies (tomatoes, lettuce, carrots and cabbage) and put a slice of brie on top. Fry one egg in a pan and put in on top of the brie cheese. For the grand finale cover the burger with toasted top part of the burger bun and stick a giant toothpick through the burger. 

This is a giant portion by itself, but if you want to add a final touch you can bake some sweet potatoes in the oven and serve it with the burger.

Burgerji- zadnje čase so se razpasli povsod v nešteto različnih kombinacijah. Od tistih pravih ameriških, fit in zdravih različic, z različnimi vrstami mesa in celo veganski. Ker je moj dan za "pregrehe" ponavadi sobota ali nedelja pa si ga pripravim kar sama doma - pa seveda ne samo zase, saj se vsi, ko slišijo kaj počnem, postavijo v vrsto za kosilo. Kaj potrebuješ?

- bombeto/kruh po želji (lahko je lepinja, bombeta s sezamom)
- mešano mleto meso (lahko uporabiš tudi piščančji file, ali pa mleto perutninsko meso)
- sir (cheddar, brie in mozzarella)
- bela čebula
- šalotka
- česen v prahu
- sol
- poper
- moka
- jajca
- sveža zelenjava po želji (zelena solata, paradižnik, rukola, zelje, korenček...)
- za namaz (majoneza, ketchup, gorčica, čebula v prahu, beli kis, pekoča čili omaka)
- olivno olje

Najprej so na vrsti pleskavice. V posodi zmešam mešano mleto meso, na majhne koščke narezano belo čebulo, česen v prahu sol in jajce. Rahlo pomokam roke in oblikujem pleskavice. Pazim, da pleskavice niso preveč tanke, saj v sredino vsake porinem kos cheddar sira in ga v celoti pokrijem z mesom. Med pečenjem se bo sir v sredini stopil in dodal okus mesu. Svežo zelenjavo narežem - paradižnik na tanke kolobarje, zelje in korenček pa naribam. V manjši posodi zmešam 2 žlici majoneze, 1 žlico ketchupa, četrtino žlice gorčice, čebulo v prahu, česen v prahu, četrtino žlice belega kisa, solim, popram in dodam pekočo čili omako. Pripravljen namaz postavim v hladilnik. V polovico večje ponve položim pleskavice, v drugi polovici pa prepražim šalotko - tako se meso naužije arome čebule. Če želiš da je čebula malce slajša, lahko dodaš malo medu. Čebulo odstavim na stran in v isto polovico ponve položim na polovico prerezano bombeto/kruh. Pleskavice obrnem in na vrh položim rezino mozzarelle. Ponev pokrijem s pokrovko, tako da se sir na pleskavici enakomerno stopi. Sedaj pride na vrsto sestavljanje. Spodnji del bombete premažem z namazom, nanj položim pleskavico in jo bogato prekrijem s praženo šalotko. Obložim z željeno zelenjavo (paradižnik, zelje in korenček ter solata) ter brie sirom. V ponvi spečem še jajce na oko in ga dodam na vrh burgerja. Pokrijem s toplim popečenim vrhnjim delom bombete in v sredino po želji zapičim velik zobotrebec.

Ta burger je že sam po sebi ogromen zalogaj, vendar lahko v pečici spečeš tudi malo sladkega krompirja in ga postrežeš kot prilogo.
